Appointed Persons First Aid

Course Introduction

A one day programme for individuals who wish to gain knowledge of emergency procedures and attain a recognised qualification in First Aid.

Where an employers risk assessment for First Aid needs identifies that a qualified First Aider is not necessary the minimum requirement for the employer is to appoint a person to take charge of First Aid arrangements. This includes looking after the equipment and facilities and calling the emergency services as and when required. Arrangements should be made for an Appointed Person to be available to undertake these duties at all times when people are at work. In the absence of First Aiders employers must appoint a person for this purpose. Appointed Persons are not necessary where there are an adequate number of First Aiders.

Course Aims

By the end of the course candidates will be able to demonstrate the essential knowledge and skills needed to deal with life threatening emergencies in the workplace. The course tutor will carry out an ongoing assessment and all successful students will receive a certificate as recognised by the Health and Safety Executive.
